• Safer on site - arguably the most serious health risk on any construction site is dust inhalation. The presence of cement and use of angle grinders & mechanical cutters produces dust particles, normally a little greater in size than 2 microns. Particles sized at less than 10 microns can pass through the larynx and penetrate to the deep lung & cause chronic respiratory diseases. Steel tiles are easily cut & shaped with guillotine, tin snips etc. therefore dust creation is negligible.
• Repetitive tasks reduced. For example the number of fixings required to install are far less than traditional materials. On avg. 65m² sized roof 715 fixings required for our system compared with 1900 for concrete tiles & 3900 for plain clay tiles. 20 trips up a ladder compared with 135 for concrete tiles & 216 for plain clay tiles. Fitted cost is lower £25.50 per m² vs. £40 per m² for plain clay tiles & £32 per m² for slate and concrete interlocking tiles.
